The buck stops there

It’s Tuesday. Happy birthday to Jean Sibelius, Jim Morrison and Sinéad O’Connor.

Will there be enough vaccine shots for everyone in the US? Maybe, but this doesn’t bode well.

The Boston City Council wants more power over the budget. Everyone asked by the Globe thought it was a good idea. I wasn’t asked but I think it’s a bad idea. Giving the council a bigger role in the process will likely make things more expensive and less efficient. The state budget is done by committee and it was submitted five months late. In Boston, the mayor owns the budget, and there’s something to be said for having just one throat to choke.

The MBTA is having second thoughts about those service cuts. Good.
